The Results - Scenic Rim Regional Council 2025-2026 Budget:
Council is pleased to advise of the completion of our community engagement activities for the 2025-2026 Budget, marking the third consecutive year that Council has invited community feedback to guide its financial planning.

Your insights have played an important role in shaping our approach to the budget and service delivery for the future. The Draft Budget for 2025-2026, in conjunction with feedback from the Draft Corporate Plan 2025-2030, has been valuable to inform our planning and investments.

We sincerely appreciate your feedback and participation in the face-to-face consultation sessions during this engagement period. Council has reviewed all submissions and is pleased to announce that the 2025-2026 Budget was adopted at a Special Meeting held on 9 July 2025.

Our community engagement activities involved a diverse section of the Scenic Rim population, gathering valuable insights that have influenced the 2025-2026 Budget.

The consultation raised a strong dialogue between residents and Council, resulting in a total of 171 participants across various consultation activities, including surveys and in-person sessions.

The feedback we received highlighted the challenges posed by rising living costs, with many community members expressing concerns about the proposed 7 percent rate increase. In response, Council made the decision to adopt a lower rate rise, which means that some new initiatives and community projects will be placed on hold for this financial year.

To support the region's projected growth while minimising rate increases, Council has adopted an average rise of 4.5 percent in General Rates and is committed to a $29.1 million Capital Works Program, with plans to consider new projects in future budgets.

Overall, the feedback collected has been valuable in refining the final version of the 2025-2026 Budget, ensuring that it aligns with the aspirations and needs of our community. The Results - Scenic Rim Regional Council Corporate Plan 2025-2030:

Following consideration of community feedback, Council adopted the final version of the Corporate Plan 2025-2030 at the Ordinary Meeting on 25 June 2025.

Consultation on the Draft Corporate Plan 2025-2030 opened on 16 April 2025 and concluded on 12 May 2025. Council received 95 written responses specifically related to the Corporate Plan and 82 residents attended one of the three face-to-face consultation sessions, which also provided an opportunity to provide feedback on the Draft Budget 2025-2026. The face-to-face sessions were held at Beaudesert on 30 April, Boonah on 1 May and Tamborine Mountain on 6 May 2025.

Community feedback suggests support for the vision, with over 80 per cent of the respondents to the survey agreeing with the vision statement in the Draft Corporate Plan 2025-2030. There were some concerns about the level of growth within the region and how this may impact the region's environment and community spirit. At the face-to-face workshops, attendees were asked to consider what they love about Scenic Rim both now and into the future and those discussions aligned strongly with the proposed vision, with a sense of community and value for environment featuring strongly.

Community feedback emphasised the importance of Council prioritising efficiency and value for money, responsiveness to its customers and maintaining strong partnerships with community groups and local volunteers. This feedback resulted in changes to the FOCUS guiding principles to emphasise these issues.

There was overall support for the Strategic Goals, although residents stressed the importance of effective implementation and sufficient investment to achieve the necessary outcomes. Community feedback emphasised the importance of careful management of growth and appropriate infrastructure for the region as population increases. Support for small businesses also emerged as a key priority. Recycling and weed management were considered critical environmental issues and community feedback also highlighted the importance of strong community spirit and connection were and noted that Council has played a key role in supporting community resilience and preparedness for disaster events. There was also feedback in support of improved facilities for sport and recreation.

Community feedback has been carefully considered and, where appropriate, changes incorporated into the Corporate Plan 2025-2030. In addition, the adopted version also includes additional content related to the implementation and measurement of the new Corporate Plan. The Corporate Plan will be implemented over five years, with annual Operational Plans and annual Budgets supporting delivery.

The Corporate Plan is an important document as it sets the direction for Council over the next five years and helps us to meet Council's priorities. For the third consecutive year, Council will be inviting community feedback to inform its budget for 2025-2026 and beyond. The Draft Budget 2025-2026 combined with feedback from the Draft Corporate Plan 2025-2030 will be used to help Council inform future planning and investments, to deliver value-for-money services and projects to local community.
