Scenic Rim Regional Council has developed a Draft Sport and Recreation Plan 2024-2034, informed by community including Scenic Rim sporting organisations, peak sporting bodies, state government departments and non-council sports and recreation providers.

This is our region's chance to deliver fit-for-purpose, more inclusive sport and recreation infrastructure and to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the Scenic Rim over the next ten (10) years.

Council has engaged Otium Planning Group Pty Ltd, who have completed a review and analysis of all Council's key sport, leisure and recreation documentation and undertaken consultation activities to assist the ongoing development of Council's sport and recreation to the community. These activities have supported the development of the Draft Sport and Recreation Plan 2024-2034.

Council is seeking community input on the Draft Sport and Recreation Plan 2024-2034 to help better understand the unique needs of our community and to prioritise the strategic objectives and actions over the next 10 (ten) years. Click here to take the survey now!

The primary objectives of the Draft Sport and Recreation Plan 2024-2034 include:

  • Enhancing the community's quality of life through improved health, wellbeing, and physical activity,
  • Offering a variety of sports and recreational opportunities,
  • Strengthening collaborative efforts among stakeholders, and
  • Guiding strategic investment in infrastructure with a focus on sustainability.

The Draft Sport and Recreation Plan 2024-2034 offers a comprehensive strategic analysis anchored by four key pillars. The number of strategic objectives are listed beside each pillar below:

  1. Infrastructure (13),
  2. Participation (13),
  3. Governance (15), and
  4. Events and Programs (6).

These pillars serve as a roadmap for actionable strategies for implementation with assigned specific timeframes for Council, local sports clubs, organisations and the broader community to action within:

  • Ongoing initiatives
  • Short-term (1-3 years)
  • Medium-term (4-6 years), and
  • Long-term (7 years and beyond).

The four key pillars; Infrastructure, Participation, Governance, and Events and Programs contain a number of Strategic Objectives, the number varying for each pillar.

The questions in the survey will focus on:

  • Identifying the level of priority you would give each strategic objective for implementation from high (H), medium (M) or low (L), with high (H) being the most important to you, and
  • Determining if there is anything you would change, add or remove from the strategic objectives for each pillar.

Community consultation allows the wider community an opportunity to review the draft strategy and provide feedback on how they would prioritise the actions Council has proposed to approach the management strategies.

As a valued and engaged member of the Let's Talk Scenic Rim community you can complete the survey online (in the below section). To view the Draft Sport and Recreation Plan 2024-2034 you can click here, or visit the 'key documents' section of this page and download the documents.
