Draft Scenic Rim Economic Development Strategy 2026-2030
Scenic Rim Regional Council is preparing a new economic development strategy and is seeking community input to help inform its strategic priorities for the next five years.
The Scenic Rim Economic Development Strategy 2026-2030 will deliver on Council’s continuing commitment to promoting prosperity, with a visionary, practical and evidence-based strategy for economic development, which identifies key actions to support a strong economy into the future. As a business-owner/operator and/or resident, you are invited to undertake a short survey, which contains five questions and takes around five minutes to complete.
Council has commissioned consultants SC Lennon & Associates to prepare a new economic development strategy for the Scenic Rim region. When complete, the strategy will guide Council’s economic development priorities and focus areas over the next five years.
Stakeholder consultation and engagement is a key component of the strategy development process. This survey aims to engage with industry and community representatives to help better understand the key attributes, issues, challenges and opportunities for economic development in the region.
Building on Council’s continuing commitment to promoting prosperity, the project objective is to encourage investment and the development of high performing industries, provide a pathway to sustainable growth for the region’s businesses, support local employment and lifestyle opportunities for the Scenic Rim’s residents and provide attractive experiences for visitors to the region.
In working towards these outcomes, the Scenic Rim Economic Development Strategy 2026-2030 will:
- Articulate an economic vision for the Scenic Rim with supporting principles to guide Council’s economic development support and promotion activities.
- Articulate the Scenic Rim’s economic attributes, comparative advantages and opportunities for growth.
- Identify the key enablers of economic development (e.g. infrastructure, industrial land, workforce skills, etc.) and how they can be nurtured to support prosperity; and
- Provide a framework for action, with prioritised strategies, desired outcomes and measures of success.
A whole-of-Council initiative, the Scenic Rim Economic Development Strategy will be delivered in collaboration with Council’s community, industry and government partners. Stakeholder consultation and engagement is therefore a key component of the strategy development process.
Council will accept feedback between 3 April and 24 April 2025.
