The Scenic Rim will be better prepared to manage waste when a natural disaster or extreme weather event occurs, following the adoption of its Waste Services Resilience Roadmap.

Developed in consultation with the community, as part of Council's Disaster Waste Management Project funded by the Australian Government, the roadmap endorsed at Council's Ordinary Meeting on 8 August 2023 supports Council's commitment to innovative waste management and resource recovery.

The Roadmap identifies short and long-term options for Council to enhance its resilience in managing waste while the management plan will provide a framework for coordinating the delivery of waste services during and after a disaster.

Feedback was received by Council during the community consultation period of 13 April to 4 May 2023 via Let's Talk Scenic Rim engagement platform.

Thank you for your contributions on the Waste Services Resilience Roadmap. Your feedback has informed the Roadmap to support the community to recover from disasters more effectively, prioritise resilience improvement activities, and sets out clear timeframes for these activities.

We encourage individuals, local community groups and organisations to share this information with their existing networks. If you would like to receive updates, outcomes and notifications for Council projects, please 'subscribe' to the project page on Let's Talk Scenic Rim.
