Draft Scenic Rim Climate Change Strategy Survey
CLOSED: Contributions to this consultation are now closed for evaluation and review
Council recognises the future impacts of climate change and is committed to meeting its responsibilities and working with the community to respond to these challenges in the Scenic Rim region.
In 2022, Council released its Statement of Intent to inform the community how the challenges of climate change intend to be addressed in the region. The statement contained numerous themes that Council will work towards to assist our region to manage the impacts of climate change. The next step was to develop a strategic approach that supports and implements the objectives within these themes.
In response to community feedback from the first phase of consultation on the Statement of Intent, Council has developed the Draft Scenic Rim Climate Change Roadmap 2024-2034 (Roadmap) and Draft Scenic Rim Climate Change 3 Year Action Plan 2024-2026 (Action Plan).
The Roadmap will enable Council to embed climate change considerations into corporate decision-making and guide planning and response in mitigating and adapting to climate change.
Community consultation allows the wider community an opportunity to be informed about how Council plans to address its organisational climate change impacts and support the community in responding to climate change. The consultation provides the opportunity to provide feedback on how Council will prioritise actions proposed in responding regionally to the global challenge.
The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
When you commence the survey, there will be questions about yourself (will not identify you). This lets Council capture important demographic data from the Scenic Rim region.
The questions in the survey focus on:
- Your opinion of Council's planned actions in the Summary of Actions in the Draft Scenic Rim Climate Change Roadmap 2024-2034 (Roadmap) and the Draft Scenic Rim 3 Year Action Plan 2024-2026 (Action Plan) aimed at building resilience to climate change impacts and reducing Council greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the region;
- Which actions you would like to see prioritised by Council;
- How Council can advocate for broader climate change, and
- Your suggestions for additional actions to build resilience to climate change impacts and reduce Council and community greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Survey submissions will be accepted by Council between 25 September and 27 October 2023.
