Agriculture, and its associated agribusinesses, are an important contributor to the Scenic Rim economy accounting for 14 per cent (both directly and indirectly) of the region’s gross domestic product (GDP). The Scenic Rim has wide variety of fresh produce and livestock, and a growing boutique and organic product offering. The Scenic Rim ‘brand’ promotes local products, often sustainably or ethically produced, which are sold into a growing market of source conscious buyers. Being strategically positioned near major freight routes and SEQ, the Scenic Rim agricultural industry is an integral part of the Queensland and Australian food supply chain.
