Council has progressed with the Adaptive re-use of the Beaudesert Pig and Calf Saleyards with the release of the final concept design informed by community consultation during November 2023.

Initially, Council commissioned a draft concept design, which aimed to create a sense of place for the Scenic Rim community and deliver a built environment which not only resonated with residents and visitors but also delivered social benefits for Beaudesert.

The draft concept design retained a portion of the existing facility and incorporated an undercover rest and BBQ area with picnic tables, constructed from reclaimed saleyard timbers.

The community were invited to provide feedback on the draft concept design via Council's engagement platform, Let's Talk Scenic Rim.

Over 740 people visited the project page resulting in over 320 downloaded documents, viewed photos and other project information. The community consultation survey received 24 responses and a summary of the results can be found in the key documents section on this page.

Feedback provided on the draft was positive, constructive and valuable. The final design incorporates features requested by the community, including wheelchair accessibility in seating areas and throughout the space, rubbish bins and an interactive storyboard to showcase the saleyards as the meeting place it once was, for the benefit of current and future generations.

With the final concept design completed, Council will commence work on the detailed design whilst concurrently preparing the site for construction Thank you to our community for participating in the project. Your feedback has helped to preserve the region's roots and expand the Scenic Rim's rural social connection.

We look forward to welcoming the community to the repurposed facility by the end of 2024.

We encourage individuals, local community groups and organisations to share this information with their networks. If you would like to receive updates and outcomes of this survey, please 'subscribe' to the project page on Let's Talk Scenic Rim to receive notifications and updates.
